Year 2 - My latest project was based around ethical fashion and what we can do to make the fashion industry more eco-friendly. My mood board gives information how we can upcycle old clothes and transform them into new items instead of throwing them away. I found this to be really interesting and it made me much more enthusiastic about upcycling clothes and the project in general. I looked closely at denim as it is used for such a wide variety of clothing and is also long lasting.
Year 2 -Example of my mood board with inspirational images from the Edwardian era, I looked at this period of time after a visit to the Fashion & Freedom exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery which displayed work that was influenced by the early 1900’s. I looked at various designers such as Giambattista Valli who had also created collections inspired by the same time period, my colour palette was inspired from the denim from my ethical mood board, I feel that the pale blues add to the romantic feel.
Year 2- Example of a development sheet I created from pages of my sketch book with flats, hand drawn illustrations and inspirational images. I explored certain design features that were popular from the Edwardian era, for example; ruffles, flounces, interesting sleeves shapes, neck bows, etc
Year 2-  Illustration of my final design from the upcycling project that I am currently making at the moment. The garment will be made from upcycled men's shirts and denim jeans purchased from a local charity shop. I feel that the garment really reflects the period of time but is translated well into modern day.
Year 2- Example of a mood board I created from my textiles project inspired by Henri Matisse. After his exhibition at the Tate, a lot of designers took inspiration from his work and translated it onto the catwalk. The moodboard includes illustrations of garments I designed that have my final print ideas on.
Year 2- Final print ideas that were Matisse inspired, the project was print based, so I gained a lot of knowledge and understanding of different methods. My final prints were made using Photoshop and the sublistatic printer.
Year 2 - These are trend boards that I researched and created for  a CAD project . The trends I selected were current at the time and included themes such as; 60’s, military, retro sportswear and heritage.
Year 1- Mood board created for my dress project which was based on the Natural World. After doing my design development, I chose to base my print on daisies because of the simplistic design and the minimal colour palette which made the garment look modern but still summery.
Year 1- Development sheet from the same project, this includes drawings and flats that I took from my sketchbook. On each development page, I looked at a different flower and a different style of dress, this made it easier to develop my design ideas.

Year 1- I used Photoshop to illustrate my final design, it was a shift dress with a boat neckline and the daisy print. I created the print using a screen printing method and I created two screens so that I could apply both colours.
Year 1- Photographs of my dress when I had manufactured it, I was happy with how  turned out and I felt that the print was successful.
Year 1- My first project was a skirt assignment inspired by the 1960’s, I felt that this period of time was really colourful, so I translated that into my mood board along with inspirational historical and contemporary catwalk images.
Year 1- Illustration of my final skirt design which I hand drew and then edited further using Photoshop
Year 1 - This is my final skirt design after I made it. I styled it for the photo shoot and was really happy with how the shoot turned out, I would also  like to do more things like this in the future too.
Year 2- Examples of the development of my observational drawing skills through life drawing.
